Amir Hamid's convocation ceremony (2011)

Congratulations to Amir Hamid ! !
He has been successful in his studies at University Kebangsaan Malayasia (UKM) where he recently received his Master’s degree in Computer Science at the age of 34. He says that there are very few role models that the deaf community can look up to and emulate, but is happy that he can be a role model himself.
He is currently working at the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry as an information technology (IT) officer.
The blogger said he wants to be a role model in the deaf world especially to young deaf students. They need people that they can look up to who are talented and pursue higher education. Amir wants to encourage all young deaf students to study hard and enter college or university. He also hopes that they will learn Malaysian Sign Language (MySL) because it is easier to communicate in MySL as compared to Kod Tangan Bahasa Melayu (KTBM). MySL is a more visual language, and one is able to have a deeper understanding by using it.
